This year has just flown by, but our lodge has accomplished so much.
We just had our Annual Charity Dance held on Veterans Day, to support the Warrior Canine Connection. Their mission “Enlists recovering Warriors in a therapeutic mission of learning to train service dogs for their fellow Veterans”. How great is that! Thanks to our Leading Knight, Brandi Dohm, for organizing this event.
We also received funding from Grand Lodge for three grants. The Spotlight Grant in the amount of $2,000 will be used as a donation to Just One Sweater. They collect and distribute warm winter clothing to those in need. In addition to warm clothing, they collect and distribute laundry detergent and new socks. If you are able, please donate a sweater (men or women’s), new socks or detergent at the lodge during the month of January. The Beacon Grant in the amount of $4,000 will be donated to the Wellness House of Annapolis. They provide support, education, and services to individuals and families who have been affected by cancer. And last, the Gratitude Grant in the amount of $2,000 will be donated to Gigi’s Playhouse. They provide free educational and therapeutic-based and career development programs for individuals with Downs Syndrome, their families, and the community. Thank you to Lisa Lutz and Adele Lerner for Chairing this committee. Please see either one of them if you have any questions about these local charities. In addition to above and various other donations, we just recently donated $500 to the Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department, $500 to Riva Volunteer Fire Department and $500 to the Anne Arundel County Food Bank. These donations were profits from our Bar Bingo. We also donated $250 to the Eastport Volunteer Fire Department and $250 to West Annapolis Volunteer Fire Department. These donations were profits from Show Me the Money. We owe you, the members, and guests many thanks for your participation! We will list all our accomplishments for the year, in the February-March issue of the Horn.
I wanted to take a moment and thank our wonderful staff and house committee volunteers. We have had some record sales for our events and cateringrentals.
The Elk of the Month for December is Mark Watt for organizing the Johnny Seaton event as well as being our fill in bingo caller. Please THANK him when you see him around the lodge...
Elections for new Officers are coming up in February for the April 2023 to March 2024 year. Support your lodge by volunteering for a new position. See a current officer for any information. We Love and Appreciate our Volunteers, Without them our lodge would not run!
