Lodge News
Libby Dohm, ER
Well… just like the Aerosmith song goes, “I’m Back in the Saddle Again” … I will be your Exalted Ruler again for the 2022/2023 year. My hope is to continue the momentum that all of your lodge officers and volunteers worked so hard to accomplish this past year. We need new members and fresh ideas to keep this going so please reach out to us or anyone you know that might be interested.

A few of us are just returning from the Maryland, Delaware, DC Elks State Conference in Frederick. Their lodge was very nice and welkoming! The Grand Exalted Ruler, T. Keith Mills and his wife, Amy, were the honorary guests as well as our State Sponsor, Paul Helsel, and his wife, Jane. Both spoke about trying to retain the lodge members who are delinquent. If you personally know someone who has not renewed, please ask them what led them to join the Elks and what has caused them not to renew.

We/I, ask for constructive feedback for anything that your lodge officers can work on or help with. This is the only way we will grow. For all members, if there is an area you would like to get involved in or ideas for community outreach, let us know. Right after I became a member, I joined the house committee since I only knew a couple of members. Yes, at times it can be exhausting but we have fund and have met so many great people through serving. Getting to know far more members than I would have by not jumping in.

We have more people coming out on Friday nights to shoot pool, so we are adding additional fun. We now have a shuffleboard. We also have cornhole boards if anyone would like to play on a nice evening outside or in the ballroom (when available). We can let you know where we keep them. If you are interested in starting up a league for any of these, please let one of your lodge officers or house committee know and we will work with you.

Speaking of house committee, for upcoming events: Steak Night is back! Also, we are continuing with Bar Bingo, Show Me The Money, Adult Easter Egg Hunt, Cinco de Mayo-(Seis), Nowhere Men Band, Elks Family Picnic at Camp Barrett, Acoustic Music by Jeremy Gilless, and DJ Dave to name a few.

Our St. Patrick's Day dinner and brunch in March was a tremendous success and from the many requests, we plan to have the brunch again soon.

In this issue of the Horn, keep and eye out for the list of accomplishments our lodge has made this past year with charities and donations. It is so important for us to help our community whether to an individual or charity.

Be sure to check out our website (elks622.com) and our social media page (Annapolis BPOE Lodge #622 on Facebook) to stay on top of the latest events and information.

The Elk of the Month for April is our own "DJ" Dave Claffy. You can always find Dave around the lodge either calling for Show Me The Money" or playing music for our many events.
