AUGUST+SEPTEMBER

June and July saw two Elks conventions.

First was the Maryland State Convention held in Annapolis June 7th through the 9th. Annapolis Lodge 622 Elks participated and attended the convention. Convention registration and coordination is the nerve center of the convention and was staffed all three days by Annapolis Elks: Patricia O’Brien Borman, PER;
Mary O’Brien, PER; and Rick Lehnen, PER. Lodge Secretary Lou Schmeltzer, PER, made a presentation and update on Elks programs meeting the needs of Veterans. I and other Elks attended including Libby Dohm, PER. Friday night at the lodge, included visiting Elks from Florida to Hawaii. Thanks to our House Committee and Volunteers these visiting Elks enjoyed our great food and entertainment by the band Mixed Emotions.

The second convention was the Elks National Convention. Secretary Lou Schmeltzer, PER, represented Annapolis Lodge 622 at this year’s convention held in Austin, Texas. I want to personally thank Lou for stepping up this July to attend the convention.

Faces of Valor’s 13th Annual Family Fundraiser Car Show, Motorcycle Ride and Family Picnic on June 23rd was a great success.

We continue to make improvements in the Lodge facility. Mark Walp, PER; Jim McNally, Manager; and others have continued to work hard to address the HVAC issues we have been experiencing recently because of the high temperatures and humidity. We think significant progress is being made and we hope those members attending the lodge will notice a difference.

Please continue to enjoy the summer, and I am sure some are of you are looking forward to September. Be safe!
