ELKS CAMP BARRETT HOSTS 900 BOY SCOUTS
Elks Camp Barrett will host over 900 Boy Scouts this weekend. Scouts from the Mid-Atlantic States and beyond will descend upon the camp, a 140+ acre rustic camping facility among high trees and deep ravines located within minutes of downtown Annapolis.
Friday, the Boys Scouts arrive and setup their tents for the weekend on numerous wooded sites and the athletic fields of Elks Camp Barrett. After an early morning breakfast served by the Elks, many of the scouts will travel to the US Naval Academy for a guided tour of the yard. Thereafter the ELKS of The Maryland, Delaware and DC Elks Association will serve a tailgate lunch just before the Navy’s last home football game with Tulsa at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The Scouts will return to Camp for a dinner served by the Elks followed by an evening bonfire and skits. On Sunday, the Elks will again serve breakfast to be followed by a non-denominational Sunday service at the scout-built Hillside Chapel at Camp Barrett.
Elks Camp Barrett is the major project of the Maryland, Delaware and District of Columbia Elks Lodges and is dedicated to helping needy and deserving youth in the region. In addition to its mission, Elks Camp Barrett is utilized by various groups during each year. Boy and Girl Scouts, Veteran groups, church groups, and medically oriented camps all call Elks Camp Barrett home.
