Annapolis Elks Lodge 622 Award Scholarships
Every year, the Annapolis Elks present scholarships to local outstanding and deserving senior high school students to further their educations. During the academic year, candidates apply for the scholarship opportunities. The top thirty-three applicants are forwarded for consideration to the Annapolis Elks Lodge, the Maryland State Elks and the National B.P.O.E. Elks organization. After a review by five scholarship judges, three female and three male applicants for the Annapolis Most Valuable Student scholarships are designated. In addition, two applicants are awarded the Annapolis Lodge Endorsed State Elks Vocational Scholarships.
Near the end of this school year, the Annapolis Elks Lodge hosted the Annual Scholarship Recognition Family Dinner for the eight recipients and their families. After dinner, Anthony Anzalone, the Lodge's scholarship chairman, Ronald Beury, one of the five scholarship judges and Rick Lehner, E.R., P.E.R. presented $16,500 in scholarships to the deserving students.
